Felix the Bionic Moggy

We have been calling the Vet daily to find out how Felix is.  Latest news is that he has a dressing change today and we are expecting a call from the Vet once it is done.  It'll probably be Tuesday or Wednesday before he's home but it'll be good to have him home again.

I'll post more when I hear from the Vet.

The Continuing Saga of Felix cont'd

Have just called the Vet to check on Felix again.  We spoke to him after Felix came out of surgery last night.

He told us then that it was "a bit more challenging than expected" which was probably why they didn't finish till well after 7 p.m.  The thigh bone was more damaged than was obvious on the x-rays so they have used what is called an external fixator.  Basically they screw metal pins into the bone then lock them into a metal bar at the side of the leg.  That locks everything together so the bones can knit.  In several weeks time they remove the pins and after the little holes in the skin have healed he is back to normal.  Basically he is looking like a refugee from a Mad max movie just now, but I don't think the insurance will run to a little leather jacket and sunglasses for him!

Today he is up and about.  He came out of the anaesthetic well and the vet is very happy with his progress.  I could hear him in the background as he is less than happy about being confined and is making everyone within earshot aware of it.  There's certainly nothing wrong with his lungs, the amount of noise he is making!  He is to get his dressing changed again on Friday, and should be ready to come home early next week.

As soon as we get more pictures of him I'll post them.  You'll also be able to meet him in person as he will be at the shop for the first couple of weeks.  He has to remain in a cage to restrict his movements to allow the bones to knit, and will be less than happy about that, but I'm sure he'll be happy to make lots of new friends.

New Christmas goodies!

We have lots of new Christmas goodies just in.

Amongst them are some of the lovely Peppers range of papers, including decoupage pads, and embellishments.  Ideal if you are doing Christmas cards, or stocking up goodies for a Christmas scrapbook.

We also have a great range of Christmas ribbons from Dovecraft with 24 different patterns.  And best of all, the rolls are only 99p each.

The continuing saga of Felix ...

Felix is off on his 'holidays' to St Monans.  He was dropped off at the Vets there this morning, after spending the night in a cage to restrict his movements.  He doesn't seem to understand that he isn't able to run about with two broken legs, but that doesn't stop him trying.

Have to say I was very impressed with the vet.  He obviously cares for animals and was very good when examining Felix.  He explained everything he'll be doing and also the cost:  £1500 for his front leg, £1000 for his back leg, plus VAT!  Just glad I took out insurance when we got him and his late sister as it comes to not a lot of change from £3000, plus what our own Vet will be charging for what he's done.  He's worth it though, even if he doesn't remember his Green Cross Code!

It'll take about 9-10 weeks for him to fully recover, but the vet is confident that he'll be okay at the end of it all.  If you're in the shop over the next few weeks you'll see him as we have to keep him in a cage for a few weeks until the bones knit properly.

Beginning to hate cars ...

Why you may ask ?   Simply because we got home last night to find our cat, Felix, had been hit by a car.  He's at the Vets now with two broken legs.

He's to get examined again today and our Vet is arranging for him to be transferred to a specialist orthopaedic unit in Fife, Edinburgh or Glasgow.  It's early days yet so we are hoping that he will make a full recovery.

I know some people may laugh at us being so upset about a cat, but what would you say if it was a child who had been hit by a car ?

Kitty Krafts does Christmas in September

As we're on the countdown to Christmas, Kitty Krafts will be doing a special Christmas in September weekend on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th September.

We will be celebrating Christmas Day on the Saturday, details of the Festivities to follow.

Highlight of the weekend will be a special Christmas Workshop Day on Sunday 26th September, from 11.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.  Each workshop will have a Christmas theme, designed to help you prepare for the big day.

Mystery Celebrity arrested by Fashion Police!

There are unconfirmed reports that our Mystery Celebrity has been arrested by the Fashion Police for offences against good taste!

It seems that he has appeared in Fashion Court where the Judge remanded him for contempt as he kept his face screwed up ...

We'll bring you further details as and when we hear them.

Nice to meet you

It was nice to meet Max, the winner of our Big Secret Summer Sale competition earlier in the month.

She was in with her daughter and spent quite a while wandering around.  I think she was a bit surprised at how big the shop is, being around 1000 square feet.  She managed to spend her £10 voucher though, plus a little bit more!

We look forward to seeing you again Max.  Just let us know in advance next time and we'll have a lovely chocolate muffin waiting on you.  Or a granola bar.  Your choice!
