Yes folks, it's nearly that time again. No, not wondering if you've won the Lottery this week. Something much more important than that! ( If I've won it this week, I'll agree to disagree with myself )
Cue fanfare! It'll soon be Kitty Krafts birthday again!
Difficult to believe that it is 4 years since we opened. I can still remember driving down here that first morning, wondering what I'd let myself in for when I heard an item on Tay FM news about "an innovative new craft shop opening in Dundee".
"Great", I thought, "more competition!"
Turned out it was us they were talking about, as we heard the same article broadcast every news for the rest of the day.
Four years on we are still here despite the best efforts of a recession, an incompetent book-keeper and various shopping channels. It is still a Craft Shop run by a crafter, and we still offer a quality product at a good price, and the advice is free.
Our birthday by date is Thursday, but as we're shut on Thursdays we are thinking of having something on Saturday. If you're not busy please drop in and help us celebrate. If we're not here it means we've won the Lottery and emigrated!

Samples from Lindsay Mason's Demo Day
At last I have got the pictures of the samples that Lindsay left with us sorted out. Apologies for the delay.
Lindsay had a very busy time while she was here, using all sorts of things in new and novel ways. Anyone else thought of using Alcohol Inks on ribbon before?
What with that and using them on Petaloo flowers as well, she was able to demonstrate just how easy it is to match any colour scheme that you have in mind.
She used a variety of techniques when doing the samples, i.e. matting and layering, stamping, decoupage, Distress Inks,
Alcohol Inks, shaker cards, Martha Stewart punches, embossing and many more.
The samples shown here are in the shop for you to see, and if you want to learn more about the techniques used, there will be classes soon.
Just keep an eye on the blog for details.

New products in today
We've just got the new StazOn metallic ink pads in, all of which come with a re-inker bottle. We have Gold, Silver, Copper and Platinum in stock. I'll be trying them out over the weekend, or on my next day off.
We should also have the latest issue of Craft Stamper magazine which we are now stocking as we have had so many requests for it. It comes with a cat stamp which is just lovely, and I'm not saying that because we are Kitty Krafts!
The only problem is that the magazines haven't arrived yet due to production difficulties. We are hoping that they will arrive next week. Details will be posted on the Blog
Kitty Krafts goes off-road!
We had the most fantastic time off-roading last week, but with Lindsay's visit on Saturday haven't had time to put it on the blog.
We were at the Land Rover Experience centre at Dunkeld, courtesy of a Land Rover competition. The prize was a half-day on- and off-roading in a vehicle of our choice, which was a lovely new Discovery 4. It's definitely on the 'If I win the Lottery' list now!
Our instructor, Gilbert, was excellent, both as an instructor, and with his local knowledge of the wildlife around the site. Best of all for me, it made no difference to them that I more regularly drive a wheelchair. So long as I had a driving license and could get into the vehicle I was treated no differently to anyone else.
So, if you fancy something different, or you have someone who has a landmark birthday or anniversary coming up, try off-roading in a Land Rover. Just make sure you go with them as more than one person can drive.
The only bad bit was handing back the £49,000+ Discovery 4 at the end of the day.

Lindsay Mason's visit
Lindsay's visit was a great success. She was only here a short while before she had a crowd watching her at work. The picture to the right is definitely an over-the-shoulder one as I couldn't get near enough to take a closer one!
She did a fantastic demonstration using Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and Distress Inks, Martha Stewart punches, a wide range of stamps and Petaloo Flowers, sometimes all at once! There are several things I am planning on trying on my next day off, and if they turn out half as well as Lindsay's did I'll be a happy little crafter.
